I Made My Dream App

September 11, 2026

I'm a huge pen and paper nerd. I have tons of pens: fountain, ballpoint, gel, I even have roller balls that are fed by fountain pen ink (not great!)

As for paper I have enough to last me the rest of my life, yet I cannot help but buy more notebooks. Every year I say, "no more notebooks!" and then I buy notebooks.

For projects I do all of my planning with pen and paper. I sketch out ideas and write outlines just to get them out of my head and onto paper.

For my daily todo lists I have, for as long as I can remember, written them as a list of items and then crossed them off as I do them. The next day I'll copy over the ones I still want or need to do. If there's something from yesterday that is not really important, I will not carry it over and just leave it in the past.

For years I've thought about how in an ideal world I'd have an app that only did this. That just carried over yesterday's todo items as ghosted items for today. If I want I can promote them to today OR I can just ignore them and have them disappear from view tomorrow.

Todo apps are overloaded with so many features that a simple use-case like mine is possible with many of them, but not the least bit comfortable to use when there's a pen and paper RIGHT THERE. I don't need alerts, scheduling, projects, calendar integration, notes, tags, and search. I just need today's view, ghosts from yesterday, and the ability to cross items off.

So I made it and it has replaced my pen and paper.

I don't even know if Apple will let me put an app so under featured in the App Store but if I can get it there I'll share the link here if you'd like to try this too.
