Welcome to the Dungeon!
I was having lunch thinking about projects I've worked on the in the past couple of years and how AI would have made them so much simpler to do. One of them was a little dungeon crawler game I wanted to make for myself to pass the time.
I've played nethack (and variants) on and off for over 30 years. Something about exploring twisty little passages tickles something in my brain in a way that few things do.
So I worked for a bit on a Javascript version using techniques found in this excellent book and then moved on to something else and kind of forgot about it. I don't even remember where that code lives to pull it out and poke at it again.
Before I could finish lunch I asked Claude to build me something similar and simple I could play around with and within a minute I had this.
It generates a random maze on reload and I'm now exploring these little caves and I'm not even done with lunch!
